The 1995 Winner of the Jimmy Carter Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Organization

The American Association for Gifted Children (AAGC) is the first organization in the United States to work on behalf of the gifted. Among its many good works, last year, the AAGC published a Working Paper entitled "The Presidential Scholars: A Portrait of Talent and its Development," which emphasized the importance of the role that families play in developing gifted students. In honoring AAGC, thousands of parents are also able to proudly proclaim that their son or daughter is a Presidential Scholar. The American Association for Gifted Children has for seventeen years served to distribute gifts from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation to the Presidential Scholars. Presidents of the AAGC through the years have been of enormous assistance in program planning for National Recognition Week. Dr. Irving Alexander, President of the AAGC, will accept the award on its behalf.
